Acomplia (rimonabant) is an anti-obesity drug. It was approved for marketing in the European Union in June 2006. Rimonabant is not yet approved for use in the United States, where it is known as Zimulti.
Acomplia is a weight-loss medication developed by Sanofi-Aventis, a French pharmaceutical firm. Also known by its generic name Rimonabant, Acomplia works by blocking the CB1 receptor in the Endocannabinoid System (EC). The CB1 receptor is instrumental to the intake and regulation of food. When a patient begins taking Acomplia, their desire to eat excessively is suppressed. Along with weight loss, Acomplia has also shown to be very effective for smoking cessation.
What is Acomplia?
Acomplia (rimonabant) is the first in a new class of therapeutic agents called Cannabinoid-1 Receptor Blockers (CB1). Acomplia is used in the treatment of obesity and related conditions.
Acomplia is a latest achievement of pharmaceutical industry. It’s Scientifically Developed Formula is as effective as Phentermine when it comes to hunger suppression energy boosting.
Acomplia doesn’t contain Hoodia, Herbals, Ephedra and such. It is a trade mark of one of the most authoritative European drug manufacturers, Eli Lilly and Company ®, tested and proven in multiple clinical trials Acomplia is not one of the many herbal “alternatives” to Phentermine that come and go. It works 100% as good as Phentermine. Acomplia is the Most Powerful Weight Loss Pill legally available without a prescription in the USA and Worldwide. How does Acomplia work?
* Acomplia acts by selectively blocking CB1 receptors found in the brain and in peripheral organs important in glucose and lipid (or fat) metabolism, including adipose tissue, the liver, gastrointestinal tract and muscle1.
- Acomplia switches off the same brain circuits that make people hungry when they smoke cannabis.
- CB1 receptor blockade with Acomplia acts to decrease the overactivity of the endocannabinoid system (EC system)2,3. The EC system is a recently characterised physiological system that includes receptors such as the CB1 receptor and it has been shown to play an important role in regulating body weight and in controlling energy balance, as well as glucose and lipid (or fat) metabolism.
Acomplia makes weight loss easy
You can now buy cheap Acomplia online (generic name rimonabant). It is a relatively new medication that suppresses your appetite. This can help you to both lose weight and to fight any other addiction such as smoking. Note the careful use of the word, “help”. Buying cheap Acomplia online is not a magic bullet that will shoot fat cells dead or kill your nicotine cravings with a single shot. It always comes back to your will power. So, although Acomplia has a minor effect on the fat cells in your body, you lose weight by reducing the quantity of food you put on your plate and increasing your commitment to taking some real exercise.
Acomplia supports weight loss and quitting smoking if you make changes to your lifestyle. Like any other habit, you stop smoking by modifying your behaviour. If you would usually smoke in a particular place, you stop going there. If you usually smoke at a particular time, you do something else at that time. You have to break the association between the times and places, and the activity.

What is Acomplia used for?
- Acomplia is used complementary to diet and exercise to treat obese or overweight patients who suffer from Type 2 diabetes and abnormal levels of fat in the blood.
- Sanofi argues that Acomplia can also prevent the risk of cardiovascular disease.
- Patients with large waist circumference (102 cm in men and 88 cm in women) will mostly benefit from taking the drug.
So why take Acomplia?
Your brain and body conspire to manipulate you through the “reward” system. If you do something the body likes, like eat sweet food, your brain produces dopamine which makes you feel good. Similarly, some people react to stress by eating, i.e. adrenaline can stimulate your appetite. Both adrenaline and dopamine are regulated by the cannabinoid system.
Acomplia changes the way in which this system works and so you derive less pleasure from the things you used to enjoy, and eat less when you are stressed.
The problem that everyone faces when they start to diet or to quit smoking is one of motivation. Your body misses all those tasty foods and craves for the nicotine. So you need a lot of will power to carry through to a successful conclusion.
Acomplia reduces you appetite for all things because it limits the production of dopamine. If you get less pleasure from eating (all the things bad for your waist line) and from smoking, you will have less interest in doing it. This makes it easier to eat less and give up smoking altogether.
In February 2006, the Food and Drug Administration indicated its willingness to approve the use of Acomplia for the treatment of obesity. It expressed no enthusiasm for approving the use of Acomplia for controlling nicotine addiction.
However, as a result of a safety review, Sanofi-Aventis the French manufacturer, withdrew the application, reserving the right to resubmit in the future. Further research is underway in North America and, pending the results, Sanofi-Aventis has registered the trademark Zimulti, which will be used for the US market. In the meantime, US residents must either wait patiently or buy cheap Acomplia online.

Does Acomplia also aid smoking cessation?
- Acomplia has been studied by sanofi-aventis as an aid to smoking cessation based on studies for up to one year in over 6,500 smokers motivated to quit smoking.
- Sanofi-aventis submitted a New Drug Application to the FDA, which in turn issued a non approvable letter for Acomplia for use in smoking cessation. An approvable letter was however issued for Acomplia for use in weight management.
Sanofi-Aventis received approval for the use of Acomplia for the treatment of obesity in all the Member States of the EU in June, 2006. If you approach a doctor for a prescription, the official response is that you will only get one if either:
• your BMI is 30 or above (in which case, you are considered at risk and the benefits of preventative weight loss is preferred to the costs of treatment should you contract type 2 diabetes or a cardiovascular disease); or
• your BMI is 27 or higher and you already have diabetes or one of the other weight-related conditions.
All other uses are off-label. Thus, your doctor can prescribe the medication for non-approved purposes or you can buy cheap Acomplia online and use it as you please. As a note of clarification, the fact that any medication is not formally approved by a regulatory body does not mean that it is in any way dangerous. It simply says that the manufacturer has not yet spent the money to get it approved.
Acomplia has just been approved in the European Union. Is Acomplia approved in the United States?
- No. Sanofi is still awaiting U.S. marketing go-ahead which it has said could come by the end of this year.
- U.S. health authorities have asked Sanofi for more information on Acomplia.
- Acomplia received European Union marketing approval in June 2006.
- The first launch will take place in Britain in July and be followed by launches in Denmark, Ireland, Germany, Finland and Norway in the second half of this year, according to Sanofi.
